Symposium on Relativistic Astrophysics and 8th Galileo–Xu Guangqi International Academic Conference The Galileo–Xu Guangqi International Academic Conference is a series of high-level meetings launched jointly in 2009 by ICRA/ICRANet, the Italian International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics and its Network, together with several Chinese research institutions, and held in rotation between them. Its purpose is to give the scientific communities of East and West a high-level platform for strategic exchange in relativistic astrophysics and its related theory, experiment and observation. The series looks back to the origins of modern scientific research in both East and West, follows recent advances — X-ray, gamma-ray and optical observation from space, ground-based radio telescopes, particle-physics experiments in underground laboratories — and examines the latest developments in relativistic theory itself. Seven editions have been held: in Shanghai (Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, CAS), in Italy and France, in Beijing (Institute of Theoretical Physics, CAS, and the National Astronomical Observatories, CAS), and in Chengdu (Southwest Jiaotong University). It has become a meeting of considerable international standing in the field. To advance academic exchange, to deepen research collaboration, and to further research on the late stages of stellar evolution and explosive processes, on compact objects and their high-energy processes, the Symposium on Relativistic Astrophysics and 8th Galileo–Xu Guangqi International Academic Conference will be held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, from 2 to 4 November 2026. The meeting will examine topics across relativistic astrophysics, with particular attention to the late stages of stellar evolution and explosive processes; the physics of compact objects (neutron stars, black holes and others); gamma-ray bursts and their high-energy emission mechanisms; X-ray and gamma-ray astrophysics; gravitational waves and precision tests of general relativity; nuclear astrophysics and the equation of state of dense matter; accretion processes and jet physics; and related observational and theoretical advances in high-energy astrophysics. Colleagues and graduate students working in these fields, in China and abroad, are warmly invited to submit a talk and to attend. I.
